David's confidence in God

«To the chief music-maker. After Jeduthun. A Psalm. Of David.» My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my salvation. For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthan. A Psalm by David. My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him.
He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress—I will never be greatly shaken.
How long will you go on designing evil against a man? running against him as against a broken wall, which is on the point of falling? How long will you assault a man, would all of you throw him down, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
Their only thought is to put him down from his place of honour; their delight is in deceit: blessing is in their mouths but cursing in their hearts. (Selah.) They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my hope. My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him.
He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.
In God is my salvation, and my glory; the Rock of my strength, and my safe place. With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

No trust to be put in worldly things

Have faith in him at all times, you people; let your hearts go flowing out before him: God is our safe place. (Selah.) Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Truly men of low birth are nothing, and men of high position are not what they seem; if they are put in the scales together they are less than a breath. Surely men of low degree are just a breath, and men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.
Have no faith in the rewards of evil-doing, or in profits wrongly made: if your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it. Don’t trust in oppression. Don’t become vain in robbery. If riches increase, don’t set your heart on them.
Once has God said, twice has it come to my ears, that power is God's: God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that power belongs to God.
And mercy, O Lord, is yours, for you give to every man the reward of his work. Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work.
