David's confidence in God

«To the chief music-maker. After Jeduthun. A Psalm. Of David.» My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my salvation. To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
How long will you go on designing evil against a man? running against him as against a broken wall, which is on the point of falling? How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence.
Their only thought is to put him down from his place of honour; their delight is in deceit: blessing is in their mouths but cursing in their hearts. (Selah.) They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my hope. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation, and my glory; the Rock of my strength, and my safe place. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

No trust to be put in worldly things

Have faith in him at all times, you people; let your hearts go flowing out before him: God is our safe place. (Selah.) Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Truly men of low birth are nothing, and men of high position are not what they seem; if they are put in the scales together they are less than a breath. Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
Have no faith in the rewards of evil-doing, or in profits wrongly made: if your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it. Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
Once has God said, twice has it come to my ears, that power is God's: God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
And mercy, O Lord, is yours, for you give to every man the reward of his work. Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.
